(IUI (Intrauterine insemination
IUI includes Insemination of washed sperms into uterus by a catheter. It’s a simple and cost effective treatment which can be applied for couples with male factor, cervical and immunological disorders, and unexplained infertility causes. IUI success rates is about 8-20% per cycle depending on variables such as female age, the reason for infertility, etc. This procedure can be performed at 4 intervals every 2 months.
IUI is recommended for the following cases
Male factors:
Sexual impotency
premature ejaculation
low sperm count or movement
Surgery and testicular damages
Immunological disorders
Diseases like diabetes and thyroid disorders
Reverse ejaculation
Female Factors:
Severe Stenosis of uterine cervix
Cervical abnormalities
Severe vaginal stenosis (vaginismus)
Treatment method:
ovulation stimulating medications are used to produce more mature follicles (since one oocyte matures in every cycle naturally, hormonal medications are needed to release more oocytes). Then ultrasound monitoring is performed on a specific day based on the type of the treatment protocol.
Note: An IUI course lasts between 12 to 15 days.
Preparation of sperm (semen) and transfer to the uterus:
The husband’s semen is collected in Sterile container before the insemination. Then it’s washed by the lab to separate live sperms in sterile conditions for direct transfer to the uterus. In order to increase the chances of pregnancy, live progressive sperms with normal morphology are choosed . simultaneously with ovulation, prepared sample is inserted into the uterus cavity by a catheter.
after IUI:
Rest for 20 minutes after IUI on the bed.
Having Intercourses for the next couple of nights is recommended.
Have Relative bed rest at Home Up to revealing the Pregnancy result.
Avoid eating bloating Foods and More use of vegetables and fruits.
Avoid stressors, anger and worries.
The result of the IUI:
Two weeks after the IUI, a β-HCG blood test will show your pregnancy result.
